Next Question Please

Finally someone asked another question. "I have wondered.... you know how you can cut a worm in half and it can regenerate into two worms...does it have one soul, or two?" The venerable paused, gave an odd look and then responded. "Why do you worry about such questions?" "Your focus should be on proper mediation". He paused again and answered, "one soul". I liked this guy. Practical. He may have been wearing an orange robe, sitting in the half lotus position, but he seemed to have his head on straight.

  1. Truth be told, one worm rendered in 2 parts will not become 2 worms. Worms do have a crop, gizzard, 5 pair of hearts and more survival equipment between their mouth opening and the clitellum (swollen band nearer anterior end). So, if you cut the worm into 2 parts, the head end might generate a new tail, but the posterior end cannot generate the crop, gizzard, hearts, etc. So, cut a worm in half and you have made one of the intestines of the earth very uncomfortable but you still only have one worm - maybe.
